  The Matrix 12" Action Figures
from N2 Toys

© N2 Toys

The first set is comprised of Neo and Trinity as they appeared in the "Lobby Shootout" scene.

The Good:
They're from The Matrix. Do you need more than that? Oh, ok.
The clothing is well detailed and appropriate to the movie's most famous scene. Neo's boots are the heavy steel-toed models that got their own close-up. The packaging is nice and compact, allowing for easy storage, and has a large viewing window that allows viewing from almost all angles.

The Bad:
The advertised "array of weapons" included with each figure is not there. Neo comes with two Uzis and two pistols. Trinity only comes with two pistols. The facial likenesses, while not bad, are not as good as the 6" figures, and the sunglasses are not removable. Both figures are somewhat petit, with sizes and dimensions closer to Ken and Barbie than other 12" figure lines. One noticeable feature is that Trinity's feet are incredibly small.

The Ugly Truth:
Rating: 2 - For hardcore collectors and completists only.
If you, like me, collect anything you can get your hands on from The Matrix, go ahead and pick these up. They promise to be somewhat limited, and they are available at a good price compared to G.I. Joe, Dragon Models, and Ultimate Soldier. If you are a 12" figure collector, who is looking for cool parts to use in customizing, these might not be for you. With the exception of Neo's boots, there's not much here that can't be gotten in higher quality from another manufacturer. N2 Toys has done some incredible 6" figures, especially for being their first release. I think we have reason to hop that future 12" releases will be up to the quality of their smaller counterparts.

Recommendations:
If you get these, and want to get some more accurate weapons, look for 21st Century Toys' weapon sets at a store near you. For Trinity, get the SWAT Shotgun Set. This includes a SPAS-12, which she uses in the lobby shoot out. For Neo, get the Modern Special Operations Weapon Set. It includes the MP5K and the Mac-10, both of which he uses in the lobby shoot out. Voyager Toys carries both of these sets in stock. They also carry other brands of figures and accessories you can use to custom build your own figures.
