  Mortal Kombat 8" Action Figures
from Infinite Concepts

© Infinite Concepts

The initial set is comprised of Liu Kang, Mileena, Scorpion, Shang Tsung, Sonya Blade, and SubZero.

The Good:
They're from Mortal Kombat. The sculpting on these figures is amazing. For as long as Mortal Kombat has been around, and for as many different lines of action figures as there have been for it, these are easily the best in terms of sculpting and painting. As individual statues, they would be well worth the price.
The thing that is said to make these figures special, other than some superb sculpting and detailing, is Infinite Concepts' C.O.G.J.I.T. system (patent pending). This stands for Center Of Gravity Joint Integrity Technology, and is suppose to make the figure's joints look more realistic no matter how they are posed, and give the figure better balance in a wider variety of poses. They do look more realistic, in terms of joint shape, when posed in a variety of possibilities.

The Bad:
The thing that is said to make these figures special, other than some superb sculpting and detailing, is Infinite Concepts' C.O.G.J.I.T. system (patent pending). This stands for Center Of Gravity Joint Integrity Technology, and is suppose to make the figure's joints look more realistic no matter how they are posed, and give the figure better balance in a wider variety of poses. Yes I already mentioned this, but it goes in both categories. On the two I bought, Scorpion and SubZero, they stood okay until I started trying to pose the legs. Once I started working to work the leg joints, knees and ankles, they quickly became very loose, and the figures will now not stand for any length of time without support. Since they do not have holes in the soles of their feet, this is a bit difficult.
I am not normally big on accessories with action figures, unless they are called for. I think that all too often companies rely on the accessory to sell the figure rather than the quality of the figure itself. With these figures, accessories are pretty much non-existent. For the price (approx. $14 each) and design of the figures, I would have liked to see at least a few accessories. For example, a spare hand for Scorpion with the tendril extended from his palm and a spare hand for SubZero with an ice blast coming off of it.

The Ugly Truth:
Rating: 3 - See it and decide for yourself.
If you're a Mortal Kombat completist, pick these up. If you just want something to display, pick these up. If you want something you can pose and have a little fun with, these may not be it for you. While the C.O.G.J.I.T. system does produce some realistic looking joints, it is my experience that the advantage of a wider range of standing poses does not exist yet.
